Hike Ibere rya Bigogwe hill, visit the farms and camp out under the starts on the greenest hills in Rwanda during this 2 day experience
Beautifully situated on a hill overlooking Lake Kivu, the Ishara Beach Motel is 5km from the Nyamasheke District headquarters.
Surrounded by natural vegetation and a community farm, our Motel also has a huge garden and a sand beach where you can easily spot the fabulous Ross’s Turaco. This calm environment attracts water birds like the African Jacana, Black Crake, and the Common Sandpiper. To date, 82 bird species have been recorded in our garden, including the fabulous Double-toothed Barbet and Grey-caped Warbler.
At your request, we can organise a boat to discover Lake Kivu where you can also spot fisher birds such as the Yellow-billed Duck and Woodland Kingfisher.
The Motel is within an hour from the northern side of Nyungwe National Park (Gisovu side), home to more than 300 bird species, including 29 Albertine Rift endemics and the quasi-endemic Red-collared Mountain Babbler. The Park also offers other unique attractions, such as the Canopy walkway, waterfalls, hiking, Chimpanzee tracking.
We have trained and experienced birdwatching guides who can also offer other guiding experiences. Should you be interested, please contact our reception for more information.
