Birding at DaVinci Lodge

Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge is situated in an ideal prime location in Kinigi, Musanze District. We are within a 20-minutes driving distance to the Volcanoes National Park, home to the Mountain Gorillas, Golden Monkey, various bird species and other natural attractions.

Our garden has more than 30 birds recorded to date, including the Black-crowned Waxbill and the Red-billed Firefinch. You can also find additional species in the surrounding farmlands, including the Streaky Seed-eater and the Holub’s Golden Weaver.

From our Lodge, you can drive to the Twin-Lakes within 40 minutes and to the Rugezi Marsh in 1.5 hours, home to the White-winged Swamp Warbler and the endangered Grauer’s Swamp Warbler.

Also, within two hours, you can reach the Gishwati-Mukura National Park, where more than 100 species, including 20 Albertine Rift endemics, can be easily spotted, along with other attractions such as Chimpanzee tracking.
